Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

We will keep this information indefinitely so that we can contact you when an event is scheduled and open for registration. We may also use this information to send special offers to you.

We use invisible reCAPTCHA to minimize SPAM on our site. Your use of our website indicates that you are aware your use is subject to the reCAPTCHA process and thus, is subject to the Google Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.

We do NOT share your information with any affiliates or partners. We only share information with a third-party when an application requires the data to help us manage our site appropriately.

We use Shareaholic to present social media sharing buttons. The technical data related to your activity (e.g., likes and shares) on our site may be sent to and stored by Shareaholic in order to present the count of likes/shares for each social media application. How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

What rights you have over your data

If you have subscribed to our newsletter, have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

We use MailChimp and/or ConvertKit to manage our online contact database and information. If you subscribe to our newsletter or request a downloadable free gift, your name, email address, and selections will be sent to Mailchimp and/or ConvertKit for storage and processing based upon their privacy policy and terms. If we enter your information into Mailchimp and/or ConvertKit as a result of meeting you in person, then we will also capture how/where we met you. This helps us send relevant information to you and all of our subscribers.

By submitting your email address, name, and any other personal data on the forms throughout our site, you agree to have your personal data stored within Mailchimp's and ConvertKit'sdatabases that will be processed in accordance with their privacy policies as noted above.

How we protect your data

We know how important your personal data is. In fact, our founder worked in the data management and data security areas of information technology for 25 years. We use strong passwords for our online applications. We use two-factor authentication whenever available. We educate our staff to lock their workstations when they are away from their desks. We also ensure that third-parties that store data on our behalf are GDPR compliant.

What data breach procedures we have in place

If we learned that our subscriber data had been breached, we would ensure that our subscribers were contacted immediately to explain the breach. We would also focus on the root cause and work with our third party application partners (e.g., WordPress, Mailchimp, ConvertKit) to prevent a future breach.
